About Us

My Family

I'm Morgan Evans, I'm 32 years old and I have a wife, Amy, who's 32 years young. We live in Rainworth, a small former mining village located somewhere around the North-West end of Nottinghamshire.

I've been living in the UK since I was born but I'm also fairly well travelled, having been to France, Malta, America and the Mediterrainian. I love travelling abroad but my heart is at home, with my friends and family. I also love where I live because I'm practically on the doorstep of some very nice areas to walk and only 40 minutes drive away from Derbyshire (my second favourite county)

Amy's a bit more well travelled than I am as her dad was in the Royal Air Force. I'll fill the detail in later, but it summary she's lived in both Germany and Holland as well as the UK. Amy loves to travel too and has the same passion for walking as I do.

My family is currently only two strong but we're expecting our first child on the 13th April 2009. We don't know what sex it'll be but we've settled on Summer Jane Evans if it's a girl and Warrick Joe Evans if it's a boy. There is # actually another member of our family - Nala (3 years old) She's a Staffordshire Bull Terrier - and was given to us by Amy's cousin (Joanne Lord) and her husband (Dave Lord) Nala is an absolutely brilliant dog, she's as soft as muck and great around children: we really do love her to bits!

Our Hobbies

I'm very much into computer programming and science. I'm a regular reader of New Scientist and when I get the chance, Scientific American. I've been programming for over 24 years (some might say pretty much solid :D ) and have taught myself to program in C/C++, C#, Java, Perl, PHP and basic web scripting such as HTML, CSS and XML. As an avid supporter of free/open source software I've used various IDEs including Eclipse, NetBeans, JCreator and Visual Studio Express. My favourite environment is still a basic text editor and the command line though. Most of my commercial IDE experience comes from my time spent at University where I got to develop software using some 'big boy' applications like Visual Studio, Macromedia Flash, Macromedia Director and Adobe Premier.

So far I've written three commercial websites (two HTML/PHP based, one Macromedia Flash based) two personal websites (one including a PHP/MySQL driven photo gallery) and have integrated MySQL databases and made use of Sage Financial Controller's ODBC drivers to integrate business data into thin-client (web) based applications for my company.

I'm constantly improving what skills I posses - at the moment I'm studying ASP.NET to make use of my C# skills in a professional environment. To get an idea of what I've done and am currently working on please visit my projects page.

Outside of programming I like to read fiction (although I'd never claim to be a big reader) I love watching films (particularly at the cinema) and television series such as The Simpsons, Heroes and The Twilight Zone. I love walking, going to the gym and team-based sports like football (soccer) and really need to do more to burn of the phantom baby-belly that's been forming over the past few months!

I'm quite an independant kind of guy, but I enjoy get-togethers with friends and family. Most of my free time though is spent with Amy and Nala.

Work and Higher Education

I've actually worked at the same company, Eurotron (ESP) Limited, for over 13 years. I started off working as office junior in 1995 and quickly moved to IT where I remained in change of the computer, software and communications requirements of the company (a role I still perform) During the first four years, I was responsible working as a team to design the company's first website, logo, literature and stationery.

I left Eurotron for a couple of years (1999-2002) to take on a degree in Computing Science (Visualisation) which primarily covered the practical and theoretical application of computers in manipulating and displaying 2D and 3D images, but also covered other subjects including User Interface design, Project Management and website development using PHP and ASP. My final year project was a Java based 2D animation application, details of which can be found

After a rather fruitless period looking for work in the games software sector, I returned to Eurotron (ESP) Limited where I assumed the role of Managing Director. It was probably my experience with PHP and Macromedia Flash during my degree that encouraged my to develop two websites under contract between 1999 and 2004. I am still working as Managing Director of Eurotron, although I would like to mvoe on to larger, more diverse companies.
